Ikariam

A Gameforge browser strategy game set on Greek-style islands, where you build towns, trade resources and cooperate with island neighbors.

Overview

Ikariam is a browser-based strategy game from Gameforge, launched in 2008 and set among islands in a world modeled on classical Greece. Each player rules a small town and grows it into a network of colonies spread across the archipelago.

Players assign citizens to gather wood and an island's special resource (wine, marble, crystal or sulfur), research science, and build up their towns over real-time construction queues. Islands are shared, so neighbors donate to upgrade the common sawmill and luxury mines together. Trade happens through ships and a marketplace, and resources often have to be shipped between islands.

Military play includes land and naval battles, pillaging and occupation, while alliances and cultural treaties tie players together diplomatically. Ikariam is free to play; ambrosia bought with real money pays for premium features and convenience.
