Overview

DragonRealms is a text MMORPG from Simutronics, released in 1996 and set in Elanthia, the same world as GemStone. Instead of a simple level ladder, characters improve dozens of individual skills through use and rise through the ranks of their chosen guild.

Guilds include barbarians, empaths, moon mages, rangers, clerics, traders and others, each with their own abilities and magic. Daily play covers hunting, crafting, trading and roleplay, while GameMasters run live events and storylines. Player-versus-player combat exists alongside a large amount of cooperative content.

DragonRealms offers free play, with paid premium options and an online store. Players connect through Simutronics' own client or third-party MUD clients after creating a play.net account. A community-run wiki, Elanthipedia, documents skills, guilds and maps.
