Achaea

Long-running fantasy MUD from Iron Realms with city-state politics, a deep class roster and a combat system built around afflictions and cures.

Overview

Achaea is a text-based fantasy world where several city-states, houses and religious orders compete for influence. Players pick from a large set of races and classes, each with skill trees that hold dozens of abilities, and spend their days hunting, questing, trading and taking part in in-character politics.

Player-versus-player combat is a central draw: fights revolve around inflicting and curing afflictions, so many veterans build scripts in their client to keep up. Players can also hold office, join guild-like houses, worship gods played by staff, and craft through trade skills.

The game is free to play in the official Nexus web client, the Nexus mobile app, or any MUD client (achaea.com, port 23). Revenue comes from an optional premium currency used for artifacts and conveniences, plus an optional monthly membership that grants credits and bonuses.
