Overview

Starmourn is a text MUD set in a far-future sector where alien species and three joinable factions face a common threat. Players pick from more than a dozen races and five classes, and every class has access to hacking, a skill tree unique to this game.

The game puts heavy weight on space: players can own and customize starships, explore the sector, fight ship-to-ship, and run mining and refining operations that feed an economy. Ground combat uses wetwiring, a system that replaces the potion-and-herb curing common in other Iron Realms games.

Starmourn opened in 2018, was placed in Legacy Mode in 2023 with purchases disabled, and the site now lists it as free; 2026 news posts show new systems being added. It plays in the Nexus browser client, on mobile, or via a MUD client on port 3000.
