Shroud of the Avatar: Forsaken Virtues is a fantasy online RPG originally led by Richard Garriott, the creator of the Ultima series. It is set in New Britannia and uses the idea of virtues to shape its story and choices, in the spirit of the later Ultima games. It is now run by Catnip Games.
The game uses a classless skill system and a deck-based combat style where abilities appear from a set of chosen skills. Overworld travel happens on a map, with zones for towns, wilderness and dungeons. Player housing is a central feature: lots can be owned in player towns, and many players build and run shops and roleplay venues.
Players can choose online play with everyone, with friends only, or offline single-player. Crafting and gathering feed a player economy. The game is free to play, with an optional subscription and a store for land, cosmetics and other items.
