Politics and War is a nation-building game that runs in the browser. Each player creates a country, builds cities and improvements, produces and trades resources, and chooses domestic and war policies. Military units, from soldiers to aircraft, ships and nuclear weapons, are built for wars against other nations.
Most of the game happens at the alliance level. Alliances sign treaties, pool resources in banks, train new members and fight wars that can involve hundreds of players. Diplomacy on the forums and Discord is as important as in-game numbers, and the site tracks treaties, conflicts and bounties.
The game was started in 2014 by Alex Winchell as a teenager and also has an iOS app. It is free to play, and the site offers automatic translation so players can join in many languages.
