Overview

Planetarion is a space strategy game in which each player runs a single planet among five races. Planets mine asteroids for resources, build fleets and research technology, then send ships to steal asteroids from others or defend allies.

The universe advances on a tick, usually once per hour, and keeps running when you are offline, so players plan fleet launches around tick times and rely on their galaxy and alliance for defense. Rounds last several weeks, after which the universe resets and a new round starts, often with changes to the rules.

First released in 2000, it has passed through several owners and is still running regular rounds with an active community on Discord. It plays in the browser and uses a freemium model.
