Aardwolf

Free fantasy MUD known for its large world, hundreds of quests, a custom client with maps, and a progression system built around levels and remorts.

Overview

Aardwolf is a free text MUD set in the world of Andolor, a fantasy setting with multiple continents and hundreds of areas. Each area offers a line-of-sight overhead map, which makes it friendlier to newcomers than many older MUDs.

Players choose from a long list of classes and races, then level up through combat, hundreds of quests, global quests, puzzles and exploration. Other activities include clans, player-versus-player combat, crafting and enchanting gear, trivia, casino games, and building a private manor; experienced players can even contribute new areas.

The team recommends a customized MUSHclient download for Windows, and also offers an official web client for a quick try. Other clients can connect to aardmud.org, port 4000. The game has run since the mid-1990s and is free to play.
