Overview

DurisMUD, also known as Duris: Land of Bloodlust, grew out of the Forgotten Realms-inspired MUD Sojourn when that project split in the mid-1990s. Where its sibling TorilMUD went non-PvP, Duris built its identity around player killing.

Characters belong to opposing racial sides that fight an ongoing race war across a surface map and an underground Underdark. Killers can loot a fallen character's corpse in full, so gear is always at risk. Between fights, players level through zones, earn zone completion rewards, and take part in boons and other rotating bonuses; the 2026 news log shows regular balance and content changes.

The game is free to play with donations accepted. Players connect with a MUD client to mud.durismud.com on port 7777 (443 is listed as an alternative).
