Chicken Smoothie
A free adoptables site, open since 2008, that releases a new set of pets to adopt each month alongside forums, trading and an oekaki board.
Overview
Chicken Smoothie is a virtual pet adoption site that opened in April 2008 as a small hobby project. It is built around monthly pet releases: each month a new set of drawn pets becomes available to adopt, and the yearly archive lets collectors track which pets and items they own from every year since 2008.
There is little in the way of stats or combat. Pets are collected, displayed and traded rather than trained, and the Pound and Lost and Found give unwanted pets and items new homes. Dress-up scenes let players arrange pets and items, and monthly themed dress-up challenges award limited store items to winners.
Much of the activity happens in the forums, which cover general chat, trading, roleplay and creative writing, and in the oekaki boards where players draw directly on the site. The site is free to use; an optional store sells items and stickers through a paid account balance.
